Have you stopped doing what you know you should be doing? Have you started some bad habits that need some tweaking? I did. During the hardest year of my life, I started eating fast food and I stopped exercising. I ate whatever I wanted and was stuck. Unfortunately, I gained all my weight back, but now I’m starting over and I am back on track. I actually started using my gym membership weekly, paid attention to what I put in my mouth, and began exercising outside with friends. If you need to start over, do it! My journey has really been prompted by the help of friends and God. We all need fellowship and accountability to improve our lives. Start moving! You’ll be so glad that you did.
Do you ever get overwhelmed by change? I do. Change is hard. It seems when you start to change one thing in your life, everything that you need to fix comes crashing down on you. Here are a few of the areas I need to work on below. I have also listed some helpful resources under each category.
Body: I have been overweight and tired for a long time. Now that I am not pregnant, I can be a little more aggressive in making changes. I am changing my body through exercise and healthy eating. Making these lazy bones move and asking my body to do things it has never done before is difficult. Saying no to my sweet tooth is a discipline I am learning and planning meals and looking at nutritional labels takes time and effort. I am committed to change this body and treat it kindly.
Marriage: After 5 years, I am realizing that I want to communicate better, love better, serve better, and have more fun with my spouse. All those ‘betters’ require time, work, planning, and selflessness. My goal is to have a marriage centered family and not a child centered family. I am making more of an effort in my marriage because I don’t want my marriage to just be good. I want it to be absolutely wonderful.

Momma: Now that I have been a mom for 2 + years, I am learning I need to be a mom of patience. I can let little frustrations stress me out. I need more patience and I need to let go of things that don’t matter.
Homemaker: I want a home that is clean, tidy, and organized. I need to implement more systems of organization to help my life run smoother. Getting rid of stuff is an important step. I have slowly started purging things in the last year when we moved. I have a long way to go. My garage is filled with many things that need to be sold at a garage sale or donated. I want to live simply and not let clutter swallow me up. I want my home to be a place to welcome friends and family. My hope is to be a good hostess that doesn’t stress out when people come over. I also want to be a good cook and make healthy, yummy meals daily for my family.

Money: I want to be frugal and make wise choices when spending money. I want to be better about clipping coupons and saving money on groceries. We’ve worked on our budget and I want to do my part as a stay at home mom, by being a smart shopper.
Friendships: Since leaving my job teaching, I have lost touch with having daily interaction with adults and making friendships. Many of my good friends I taught with have moved away. Being home with kids all day can be isolating. I have been known to be a hermit, unless I make myself get out. I need to make more of an effort and put myself out there. MOPs (Mothers of preschoolers ages 1-5) has been a great place where I am making friendships with other moms in my area. I am desperate for real relationships with ladies that are struggling and rejoicing in the same things I am. I want to make play dates and share ups and downs with other moms.

I am sure there are many other areas that need tweaking in my life, but these are the major ones that come to mind right now. I hope you will check out these resources if they pertain to you. If you have any other great books or websites to help in these areas, please leave a comment to share your helpful tip.
I am pairing all these resources with prayer and the Word of God. I believe that God wants to refine and mold me into so much more than I can ever imagine. I have hope that He will fulfill His purpose for me. Psalm 138:8
